Isle of Bute's gardens have been a major attraction for decades and have been recognised for their excellence in several competitions. In 2003 Rothesay won the Beautiful Scotland in Bloom "MEDIUM TOWN" award; reached the finals in the "SEASIDE TOWN" category in 2004; while in 2005 the Island was recognised by Beautiful Scotland in Bloom with the 'EXCELLENCE IN HORTICULTURE AWARD', and by Visit Scotland with the 'SEA SCOTLAND AWARD'.
