ANOTHER NEW FERRY TO SERVE THE ISLE OF BUTE
Following the recent announcement of the introduction next Summer of the 60-car / 450-passenger ferry, MV Bute, the go-ahead has been given for the commissioning of another similar vessel, costing £9.5million, to serve the Rothesay-Wemyss Bay route. This ferry is expected to come into service in 2007.

The results of this year's Christmas Window Decoration Competition are as follows:

This competition is promoted by Bute Beyond 2000, and is intended to make Bute's businesses as attractive as possible to encourage local people to look and spend locally, and also to create a positive first impression for people visiting the island over the festive season.

Argyll and Bute Council has hosted a Civic Reception in Rothesay to mark the 150th Anniversary of the founding of Isle of Bute's The Buteman newspaper. A limited edition "Royal Burgh of Rothesay" plaque was presented to the management of the newspaper by the Council Convener Cllr. William Petrie who praised the paper for playing such an important role in tackling local issues and being the voice of the people for all that period of time.

Rothesay Academy Hall will be the venue for a special Christmas Concert featuring the Rothesay Academy Band playing together with the Rothesay and District Mount Stewart Pipe Band. The concert takes place on Thursday 9th December starting at 7.30pm.
Prices: £3.00/£2.00 concession OAP and Primary Pupils.

ISLE OF BUTE TO HOST CLASSIC CAR RALLY TOUR
Classic Rally Tours, a company specializing in organizing rally events, is planning to bring about 60 vintage vehicles to the Isle of Bute on 10th and 11th September next year for a weekend of classic rallying as part of the companyís first venture of this kind in Scotland.
Buteís recycling centre in Rothesay, a partnership project involving Fyne Homes and Bute Waste Watchers, has won two top prizes at the 2004 Dynamic Place Awards ceremony organised by Scottish Enterprise, and sponsored by several leading conservation-minded bodies.
