Future of a prominent Rothesay heritage building is still in the balance

The planned redevelopment of Rothesay's former Sheriff Court and Burgh Council building has seeminlgly reached an impasse - apparently over an insistence that no part of the complex can be demolished until a contract for the development has been awarded. The redevelopment involves plans by FyneHomes housing association for the conversion of the property into residential use.

Ardencraig Gardens and glasshouses re-open after £½ million refurbishment

A jointly funded initiative to restore Rothesay’s famous Ardencraig Gardens glasshouses to their former glory has finally come to fruition with the official opening of the refurbished facility. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Cllr Len Scoullar paid tribute to the funding bodies who contributed towards the £550,000 project cost, including Argyll and Bute Council, HIE Argyll and the Islands, the EU's ISLA programme and the Bute Preservation Trust.
